.DISCUSSION...
Today...
A cold front is moving through the area today from north to south.
Ahead of the front, isolated to scattered storms are expected
today mainly south of a Greenville/Millinocket/Danforth line.
Widespread wetting rain is not expecting. Some areas Downeast
will get a quarter to half inch, while probably more areas will
see nothing. The wetting rain is over for Northern Maine other
than a few isolated showers early this morning. Not much wind with
the cold front, with sustained winds from the north/northwest up
to about 10 mph behind the front. Much lower dewpoints moving in
behind the cold front, but afternoon relative humidity values will
actually be a little higher than yesterday.
Tonight and Onward...
Much drier airmass present through Saturday. Afternoon relative
humidity around 30 percent for Friday, but winds will be light.
The airmass moistens back up late Saturday into Sunday just ahead
of the next cold front. Showers and storms Sunday could produce
wetting rains locally, much like the present weather system, but
widespread wetting rain is not expected. Not a lot of wind with
Sunday`s cold front, perhaps in the neighborhood of 10-15 mph.
Much drier airmass returns Sunday night and Monday behind the cold
front.
