An EF1 tornado also occurred within this broader swath of damage. Combining ground observations and radar, this swath started with a strong macroburst near Swansea causing substantial tree damage along Pine Plain Road and elsewhere. The damaging winds pushed southeast across Saint Matthews and Lone Star before crossing Lake Marion. Additional damaging winds occurred in Summerton, Davis Station, and Wyboo. ..Southwest Summerton EF1 Tornado in Clarendon County... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 90 mph Path Length /statute/: 9.94 miles Path Width /maximum/: 200 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 05/30/2025 Start Time: 05:01 PM EDT Start Location: 6 W Summerton / Clarendon County / SC Start Lat/Lon: 33.6022 / -80.4695 End Date: 05/30/2025 End Time: 05:14 PM EDT End Location: 4 ESE Summerton / Clarendon County / SC End Lat/Lon: 33.5643 / -80.3033 Survey Summary: A National Weather Service Storm Survey team confirmed an EF1 tornado in Clarendon County that occurred within a wide swath of damaging winds, extending from Swansea to Lake Marion. Based on ground observations and radar, the tornado likely developed over Lake Marion, just east of Lone Star before emerging over land near Hickory Top Road. The tornado snapped numerous limbs and large branches along Old River Road as it moved southeast. The tornado strengthened and caused substantial tree and power line damage near Old River Road and Clifton Road and then further east near Liberty Hill Road and Rapid Edge Trail. Moving southeast, minor tree damage occurred across Highway 15 and I95. Numerous trees were then uprooted along MG Hemingway Road.
