437 FNUS52 KCAE 120923 FWFCAE Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina and East Central Georgia National Weather Service Columbia SC 423 AM EST Wed Feb 12 2025 .DISCUSSION... Strong cold air damming continues across the forecast area today which will result in low clouds and areas of showers or drizzle, especially across the northern and western Midlands. Some clearing is possible across the southern and eastern Midlands and CSRA during the afternoon and evening hours. Winds will generally be out of the northeast and east until tonight when a warm front lifts through the region causing a shift to the south. A strong cold front sweeps through the region on Thursday with increasing south to southwesterly winds ahead of the boundary, followed by a wind shift to the west and eventually northwest Thursday night. The front will be accompanied by a period of rain and perhaps a thunderstorm or two. Friday is cooler but dry followed by another chance for showers on Saturday. Another strong cold front passes through the region on Sunday with rain and breezy conditions expected. Fog Potential: Possible, especially this morning.
