Hot and dry conditions can be expected through Wednesday, with highs in the 90s to around 105 and afternoon humidity into the teens. Recoveries will be poor (20-30% RH) tonight across south central MT, especially along the foothills. A low level jet is expected to form over eastern MT tonight bringing gusty southerly winds 20-40 mph across the ridges and higher hills. These winds will begin to mix down to the lower elevations around 0800 MDT Wednesday. An initial wind shift to the northwest is expected Wednesday afternoon, with a main frontal passage Wednesday evening/night. Winds will be breeziest over southern portions of zone 123 Wednesday afternoon, and a Red Flag Warning is in effect there. Isolated showers and mainly dry thunderstorms are possible during the late afternoon and evening for portions of the area. Gusty winds will accompany thunderstorms.
