Isolated mainly dry thunderstorms expected to develop over the western mountains and drift eastward into the adjacent plains by early evening. Lightning and wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph will be the main threats with any storms. Storms are not expected to make it east of a Hysham to Birney line. A strong Summer ridge builds over the area for the next few days bringing dry and hot conditions. Temperatures in the triple digits and RH values in the teens will be common Tuesday and Wednesday. Winds don`t look too strong either day, but there will be low level jet activity over the eastern half of the district which will keep any ongoing fires active overnight as well as produce a brief period of gusty winds (20 to 30 mph) as overnight inversion mixes out late morning. A cold front moves into the area Wednesday afternoon shifting winds to the north. Frontal passage looks mainly dry. Cooler and mainly dry conditions expected for the end of the week.
