The National Weather Service in Billings has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  The Elk Burn Area in...
  Western Sheridan County in north central Wyoming...

* Until 1115 PM MDT.

* At 810 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain over the Elk Burn Area. Between 0.2 and 0.4 inches of
  rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.2 to 0.5 inches
  are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding and debris flows
  across US Highway 14 are expected to begin shortly.
  Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow
  moving through the Elk Fire Burn Scar. The debris flow can consist
  of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding and debris flows caused by
           thunderstorms in and around the Elk Burn Area.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Flooding of areas in and downstream of the Elk Burn
           Area.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Dayton and Parkman.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

In addition to the flash flooding, the heavy rains may trigger
rockslides, mudslides, and debris flows in steep terrain.

Remain alert for flooding of creeks, streams, and normally dry
coulees even in areas not receiving rainfall downstream of the burn
area. These can become raging killer currents in a matter of minutes
even from distant rainfall upstream.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency officials and
request they pass the information to the National Weather Service in
Billings.
