Today through Saturday night... High pressure over the region will maintain warm and dry conditions today into Saturday. An upper low lifting out of Colorado and into Nebraska may bring some light precipitation to far southeastern areas Saturday afternoon into Saturday night. Currently, there is a low chance (30% or less) for rain, with the probability of 0.25 inches or more between 10-20%. Pressure gradients also strengthen a bit over the western foothills Saturday night, with some southwest wind gusts of 20-40 mph possible at Livingston to Big Timber and Nye. High temperatures in the 50s to around 60 degrees can be expected today, with similar conditions for Saturday. Low temperatures in the upper 20s to 30s are forecast for tonight and Saturday night. STP Sunday through Friday While Sunday will be warmer and dry for most, a shortwave trough passage will bring increased cloud cover and a low chance of precipitation to the mountains during the day (15-30% chance, highest over the Beartooth/Absaroka Mountains). Outside of this activity, breezy conditions will persist over the western foothills during the morning (wind gusts in the 20s and 30s mph). On Monday, winds look to increase over the western foothills once again ahead of a larger-scale trough. While this trough will bring our next best chance of precipitation to the region Monday evening through Tuesday, it will not be very dynamic and will not contain a strong push of cold air. Because of this, the chance of precipitation remains lower over the lower elevations (10-50% chance, highest near the foothills and lowest near Baker, MT) and all rain is forecast for the lower elevations. Given the time of year, a rain/snow mix remains possible in the foothills. Outside of precipitation, the breezy conditions along the western foothills will push over the rest of the area Tuesday as the trough axis moves over the area (gusts generally in the 20s to lower 30s mph over the plains of southeastern Montana). Ridging looks to build back in for Wednesday allowing warmer temperatures and dry conditions to return. At this time, cluster analysis shows decent agreement on another tough and the subsequent return of precipitation chances to end the week, but uncertainty remains at this time. Arends && .AVIATION...
