The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a

* Special Marine Warning for...
  Lake Erie from Ripley to Dunkirk...

* Until 900 PM EDT.

* At 754 PM EDT, a thunderstorm capable of producing strong gusty
  winds, large hail, and waterspouts was located near Ripley, or 18
  nm west of Dunkirk, moving east at 40 knots.

  HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts 34 knots or greater, and large
           hail.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
           hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly
           higher winds and suddenly higher waves. Large hail could
           result in structural damage.

* Locations impacted include...
  Van Buren Point, Dunkirk, Barcelona, and Ripley.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes.

Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily
overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor
immediately.
