The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a

* Special Marine Warning for...
  Lake Erie from Ripley to Fredonia...

* Until 1130 PM EDT.

* At 959 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing
  waterspouts was located over Ripley, or 18 nm northeast of Erie,
  moving east at 45 knots.

  HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts to 40 knots, and large hail.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
           hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly
           higher winds and suddenly higher waves. Large hail could
           result in structural damage.

* Locations impacted include...
  Van Buren Point, Dunkirk, Barcelona, and Ripley.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for western New
York...and the adjacent waters of Lake Erie.

Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes.

Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily
overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor
immediately.
