The best coverage of rain and thunderstorms both today and Friday will be found across the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes, where a few storms may produce locally gusty winds and brief, torrential downpours. The cold front will move east of the area late Friday night, setting up a mainly dry weekend until the next system approaches late Sunday or Sunday night. $$
