.DISCUSSION...
Showers with a few embedded rumbles of thunder will be possible through
early this afternoon across the Lake Placid area. The greatest potential
for a thunderstorm will be between 11 AM and 2 PM, after that the threat
will shift to the east. Any thunderstorm will be capable of brief wind
gusts to 30 mph, localized heavy down pour, and a few cloud to ground
lightning strikes. Given plenty of clouds temperatures will only warm
into the upper 60s to lower 70s with slightly higher heat index values
in the mid 70s possible. Drier air will move into the region after 2 PM
this afternoon, with much less coverage of showers anticipated.
