.DISCUSSION...
Dry conditions will persist through tonight. Relative humidities
will be the lowest on Monday, with minimum values generally in the
30-35 percent range. The exception will be across portions of
eastern Vermont, where localized areas of 25 to 30 percent are
currently expected. Most places will see south to southwest gusts
in the 10-20 mph range today. However, gusts up to 30 mph are
possible in the St. Lawrence Valley. An area of showers associated
with a cold front will cross the region from northwest to
southeast on Tuesday and will easily produce a wetting rain.
Ahead of the showers, Tuesday`s relative humidity values will be a
little higher than Monday, but gusty south to southwest winds are
expected to be more widespread, gusting 20 to 30 mph, with the
highest values across northern New York and the Champlain Valley.
Northern New York should see rain early enough that relative
humidities stay above 40 percent. However, parts of Vermont will
likely see them fall into the 30s. Total rainfall amounts Tuesday
and Tuesday night are expected to range from two-thirds of an inch
in far southeastern Vermont up to 1.25 inch over much of northern
New York and northern Vermont. Locally higher amounts are
possible.
