.DISCUSSION...
Another day of low minimum relative humidity values, abundant
sunshine, and increasingly breezy weather is expected this
afternoon. Gradually increasing flow has prevented relative
humidity recovery from being quite as good, with several locations
lingering around 70 percent in the broad valleys. Temperatures
will climb well into the 80s this afternoon. Northern areas have
not seen a wetting rain over the last 10 days, in some cases even
longer than that. Most areas will see RH values around 35 to 45
percent, but localized values to 30 percent will be possible as
southerly wind gusts increase up to 25-30 mph during peak heating.
These weather conditions could pose concerns for fire weather,
today.
Overnight, before rain arrives, wind gusts could increase further
in the Champlain Valley and over northern slopes of the
Adirondacks with gusts approaching 30 to 35 mph. These values will
begin to subside around dawn. Also, we`ll begin to see rounds of
showers and thunderstorms with a slow moving front tonight through
Monday night. Most areas should see a wetting rain, but it is
possible that portions of the St. Lawrence Valley could miss out
on higher rainfall totals. From the Adirondacks eastwards, most
should observe 0.33-1.00" with values locally of 1.25-1.75".
