...Fire Weather Concerns Continue Today Ahead of Widespread Rain...
.DISCUSSION...
An area of showers associated with a cold front will cross the
region from northwest to southeast today and will easily produce a
wetting rain. Ahead of the showers, minimum relative humidity
values will be higher than Monday, but still dropping down into
the 35 to 45 percent range across much of Vermont, lowest east of
the Greens. Northern New York should see showers early enough to
keep relative humidity above 50 percent through the day. Gusty
south to southwest winds are expected to be more widespread than
yesterday, gusting 20 to 30 mph, with the highest gusts across
northern New York and the Champlain Valley. Total rainfall amounts
through tonight are expected to range from 0.50 inch in far
southeastern Vermont up to 1.25 inch over much of northern New
York and northern Vermont. Locally higher amounts are possible.
Winds will turn to the north to northwest and remain gusty on
Wednesday, but relative humidities will generally stay above 40
percent.
