Main impacts will be from stratus this morning. Satellite shows
the edge of the main stratus deck just west of I-25, from just
west of APA through FNL/CYS, while a second patch of stratus
extends from near DEN/BKF and off to the east. Little confidence
in how this evolves over the next few hours, though guidance
generally keeps at least IFR/MVFR cigs through 16-18z at the
terminals. Stratus should scatter out quickly through the late
morning/early afternoon with a return to VFR likely. Some
potential for SHRA/TSRA later this afternoon depending on if
there`s sufficient heating to erode a weak cap. Winds today
should generally remain out of the east to southeast.
Tonight features another complicated forecast with poor model
agreement. At least some potential for stratus especially towards
early Sunday morning, but not confident enough to introduce any
lower cigs at this time. The potential for a Denver Cyclone also
complicates things a bit. Stratus will eventually impact TSRA
chances at the terminals beyond the TAF period during the day
Sunday.

Rain has since pushed to the east of the terminals early this
morning, with VFR conditions in place. Expect these drier/VFR
conditions for most of the morning, however, am keeping a close
eye on expanding cloud cover over and near PUB and COS. Given
recent trends, did keep the high end MVFR ceilings in the TAFs
for this morning and would expect clearing by late morning.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop over the higher
terrain this afternoon, and then likely push off the mountains.
Confidence with direct impacts is still on the lower side, so
have maintained the Prob30 at all sites this afternoon. Precip
development should lessen through the evening hours. Winds will
generally be light and diurnally driven, though steadier winds
with some gusts are possible this afternoon.

As expected, skies across northwest Colorado and far northeast
Utah have cleared over the last several hours. This trend will
continue, keeping skies clear and winds generally following
terrain driven patterns. The southern half of the area, and most
of eastern Utah, will see another round of showers and
thunderstorms this afternoon, with gusty and erratic winds,
frequent lightning, and brief heavy rain all possible. VFR
conditions will prevail, but drops to MVFR conditions due to
heavy rain are possible, especially for KTEX and KDRO, where
shower and storm activity is most likely to occur.

.AVIATION...KSLC...VFR conditions will prevail at KSLC through the
TAF period, with southeast winds switching to the northwest around
18Z with the lake breeze passage. After 19Z isolated thunderstorms
will develop south of the terminal over the Oquirrhs. These storms
are expected to remain south of the terminal through the afternoon,
with less than a 20% chance of outflow or lightning impacting the
terminal this afternoon.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...Afternoon showers and
thunderstorms will again develop across areas mainly south of I-80,
which could impact area terminals with gusty outflow winds,
lightning, and brief MVFR visibility within heavier rainfall. Away
from these storms, VFR conditions with terrain driven winds can be
expected.

GLD: Occasional MVFR or borderline MVFR-IFR ceilings remain
possible through the duration of the morning. VFR conditions
are anticipated to prevail this afternoon and evening. Showers
and thunderstorms may develop over portions of the area tonight
into Sunday morning (~06-15Z Sun), though.. confidence in both
thunderstorm development and coverage is presently too low to
warrant explicit mention with the 18Z TAF issuance. Light (~6-12
knot) NE winds will gradually veer to the E and SE (this aft)
and SE to S (this evening).. remaining light throughout the TAF
period.
MCK: Showers and thunderstorms may develop over portions of the
area tonight into Sunday morning (~06-15Z Sun), though..
confidence in both thunderstorm development and coverage is
presently too low to warrant explicit mention with the 18Z TAF
issuance. Otherwise, VFR conditions are anticipated to prevail
through the TAF period. Light (~6-12 knot) NE winds will veer to
the E and SE this afternoon.. perhaps becoming variable, at
times. Variable or light easterly to southerly winds are

round of showers and thunderstorms will develop which should be
more numerous across northern NM than on Friday. Heavy rainfall
may reduce visibilities, and gusty outflows may result in peak
gusts around 35 kts. Storm motions will be slow and erratic. A few
storms across northeast NM may contain small hail and gusts to
45kts. Much of the storm activity will diminish by 06Z, but a few
showers may linger through 09Z.
