VFR conditions expected through the TAF period. Light winds
today expected to increase out of the southeast in the late
afternoon. Recent high resolution model runs have been more
consistent in showing showers over the terminals this evening.
While these are unlikely to impact the terminals, it is possible
that wind gusts up to 25 knots occur. There will be normal
drainage flow tonight and light winds Friday morning. In the
afternoon on Friday, storms to the southeast of Denver will likely
push an outflow boundary through that has moderate southeast
winds with gusts up to 30 knots.

.AVIATION...KSLC...Fairly quiet TAF period anticipated. Some
potential for some cumulus clouds to build over nearby terrain and
drift over the terminal through the afternoon, but otherwise expect
mostly clear skies and VFR conditions. Winds largely expected to be
diurnal in nature with delayed shift to NW ~20-22Z Thursday, and
back to SSE ~04-05Z thereafter. There is around a 10-20% chance the
wind shift fails to occur. Sustained magnitudes generally remain at
or below 10 kts, with some daytime gusts up to 15-20 kts or so
possible.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...TAF period expected to remain
fairly quiet, with dry weather and VFR conditions prevailing at most
area terminals. The exception will be those downstream of any fires
(e.g. BCE) where smoke settles down low overnight reducing VIS/CIGS
accordingly. In those cases, IFR/LIFR conditions possible, with
smoke largely mixing out as daytime heating commences. For winds,
expect TAFs to largely follow a typical diurnal directional pattern
with modest sustained magnitudes and gusts.

VFR flight conditions prevail the entire TAF period at all terminals
with afternoon CU development and increasing mid-level clouds.
Westerly winds increase between 19-22Z at all west of the Divide
terminals and KCPR with gusts around 20kts. Gusty winds diminish
around sunset. Winds less than 10kts are forecast at all other
terminals.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible across western and
northern Wyoming between 21Z-04Z. Confidence is highest (30%) in a
shower and/or thunderstorm at KCOD and this is reflected as a PROB30
group. Confidence is too low (20%) in a shower and/or thunderstorm
at KJAC and KWRL so there is no mention is TAF at this time. A
thunderstorm could produce gusty outflows around 30kts.

to the Nebraska Panhandle, but probabilities are too low to
include in TAFs at this time. Any showers or possible
thunderstorms that do impact sites could briefly lower
visibilities and CIGs.

VFR conditions are expected through the forecast period.
Lingering cloudiness should gradually wane as modest low
pressure continues to progress east. Expecting a return to clear
or mostly clear skies by this evening. Overnight tonight,
believe some fog is possible particularly in the river valleys
and portions of north central Nebraska. Have included this at
both LBF and VTN with HREF guidance hints at potential for
seeing degraded flight rules. Went fairly aggressive and
introduce IFR and LIFR conditions for LBF and VTN respectively.
Believe this may be cleaned up with later forecasts but even if
this occurs, the window for these conditions appears brief and
on the order of a few hours. Skies should quickly clear after
daybreak Friday with a return to VFR expected.

A surface trough will be moving eastward this afternoon and
become the focus for surface based thunderstorm development.
This moderate CAPE, relatively high moisture content and low
shear environment will equate to the potential for storms
(about a 30- 50% chance and TEMPOs were used given the CAMS
spatio-temporal reflectivity fields) along that trough to be
efficient rain producers. High rain rates locally and briefly
can lower visibility to a mile or two - as well as creating
locally strong, up to 50 knot downbursts. Brief MVFR ceilings as
well with any CB, all mainly between 23z and 03z from Liberal
(LBL) to Dodge City (DDC). VFR conditions otherwise and south
winds under 10kt.

VFR conditions will prevail at all TAF sites over the next 24
hours. Winds will be out of the south for the most part in the 10
to 15 kt range. PROB30s are set for mainly the 20z-04z time period
at the sites, as we do expect afternoon scattered storms to pop
around the Panhandles, but confidence on any timing is low. Will
amend as necessary for storms that look to impact the TAF sites.

Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are likely to develop this
afternoon across southern and southeast NM. To TAF sites, eastern NM
terminals are most likely to be affected, though confidence was only
high enough at KTCC to place a TEMPO from 00z to 04z. KLVS and KROW
maintain PROB30s for TS development after 21z. MVFR conditions can
be expected in any thunderstorm, and VFR conditions are expected to
prevail elsewhere. Of all terminals in the state, KSRR shows the
highest likelihood of showers and thunderstorms based on its
proximity to a common initiation point with the Sacramento
Mountains, with a timeframe of 18z to 03z. Showers are likely to
exit the state between 04-06z, with SCT to BKN clouds remaining
across eastern NM overnight.
