VFR conditions are expected to prevail for all terminals through
the TAF period. Very light southerly drainage flow is currently in
place, but will become increasingly VRB by mid-morning with
continued light speeds (< 7 kts). Speeds will remain light and
under 10 kts through early/mid-afternoon.
Scattered SHRA/TSRA will redevelop mid-afternoon and carry
potential for gusty outflows, mainly after 22-23Z. Coverage is
anticipated to be higher than previous days, thereby warranting
TEMPO groups for the terminals. Coverage should dwindle mid-
evening, but isolated SHRA may linger through mid-evening. Have
trimmed the back end of the PROB30 groups to better reflect
expected convective trends. Winds will favor a return to drainage
flow in the evening.

KCOS, KPUB, and KALS: VFR conditions are expected over the next 24
hours. Winds are expected to remain relatively light, around and
less than 10 knots, through this TAF period. With that said though,
there may be a brief window early this evening for KCOS and KPUB
where outflow away from thunderstorms increases winds out of the
north. Along with that, showers and storms are expected to develop
this afternoon, which may impact any of the three TAF sites. Main
hazards from any thunderstorms will be brief periods of heavy rain,
lowered visibility, gusty outflow winds to around 30 knots, and
lightning. Otherwise, mid to high level clouds will be in place
through much of this TAF period, though with lifting and thinning of
clouds tonight into Saturday morning. Given the clearing and lighter
winds, fog may develop within the San Luis Valley and may impact the
KALS TAF site, significantly reducing visibility to IFR to LIFR
conditions.

Stratus is moving through some of the upvalley TAF sites
bringing a mix of IFR/MVFR. Showers and isolated thunderstorms
to increase through the morning as upper level support
increases. The coverage across all TAF sites increase through
the afternoon and remain a threat at most sites through the
remainder of the forecast. There is a small probability of MVFR
if the right storm with heavy rainfall rates moves across an
airfield. Also confidence is low but will be watching for
stratus and/or fog development again overnight.

KSLC...The SLC terminal will see VFR conditions through the evening
with southerly winds. Periodic showers are expected to develop
tomorrow morning, most likely between 10Z and 12Z, bringing the
potential for periods of gusty and erratic winds through the
morning. By the late afternoon, additional scattered showers and
thunderstorms are expected to develop, with a 30 percent chance of
producing gusty winds through the early evening tomorrow.
REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...VFR conditions are expected
across the airspace through the evening. Scattered showers will
continue into the early evening, primarily focused over northeastern
portions of the airspace. These will bring a low chance of
lightning, gusty winds, and brief mountain obscurations. During the
early morning, most likely beginning between 10Z and 12Z, another
round of showers is expected to develop, focused over northern
portions of the airspace, lasting through much of the morning.
Additional showers and thunderstorms are then expected to develop by
late afternoon, again for northern portions of the airspace.

Deep moisture will move over the area today, and bring some
rounds of showers and thunderstorms. Most convection will start
across the western terminals, especially in vicinity of KJAC,
KPNA and KBPI this morning. Showers then increase in coverage
across the west through the morning, spreading East of the
Continental Divide this afternoon, especially after 21Z.
Tonight, the main focus of showers and thunderstorms will shift
to northern Wyoming, especially in vicinity of KCOD and KWRL and
northward, with some drying out across the southern terminals.
Confidence in exact timing of periods of showers and any
thunderstorms is remains rather low. MVFR conditions are
possible around any shower or thunderstorm. Mountain
obscurations will be possible through the day, especially in
the western mountains. Wind should remain under 12 knots except
in and around any shower or thunderstorm.

A Pacific upper level trough will continue to move towards the
Front Range today and this weekend. Another round of showers
and thunderstorms will form between 18z and 21z across southeast
Wyoming, and push east across the high plains of western Nebraska
after 00z Saturday.
HAZARDS/WEATHER TRENDS: Areas of dense fog and LIFR conditions will
continue to impact the western Nebraska terminals until 15z, with
fog lifting/gradual clearing by 16z. Another line of showers and
thunderstorms will develop near KLAR and KCYS between 19z and 21z,
and push east into western Nebraska after 00z. Brief MVFR VIS is
possible as this line moves east and gradually weakens by 06z. Kept
PROB30 groups in the TAFs for now due to questionable impacts and
low confidence on coverage. Low clouds and some patchy fog may
redevelop after 06z for KCDR, KAIA, and KBFF late this evening.

VFR conditions will persist across the region through the afternoon
with more unsettled weather arriving this evening. Isolated
thunderstorms will develop across the Panhandle by 04Z with hail and
strong winds being the main threats. Showers come to an end by 09Z
giving way to patchy fog across both terminals Saturday morning.
Visibility restrictions down to 1 mile will be possible at times
before fog dissipates by late morning. Cloudy conditions with
ceilings below 2000 feet will continue through early afternoon.

Low level wind shear will affect the area early this morning
with winds veering out to the west ahead of an approaching
frontal boundary. The front will push southward across the
region this morning and cause the winds to switch to a northerly
direction. A few storms could develop this evening along the
frontal boundary and possibly affect the TAF sites. Low clouds
look to develop towards daybreak on Saturday which could lead to
poor aviation conditions with possible IFR cigs.

VFR conditions are forecast for all TAF sites through the TAF
period. A strong southwest wind is forecast to lead off the TAF
period with winds at around 15-20 KTs and gusts up to 30 KTs. Around
12-14Z, a strong frontal passage and wind shift is expected. After
the passage, winds will be much lighter at around 10 KTs out of the
north/northwest. CAMs continue to have disagreement on convective
potential this afternoon/evening with ensembles giving areas around
GCK at 5-10%. With decreasing trends it was not added to the TAF,
but a stray thundershower can not be completely ruled out,
especially north of the GCK terminal.

outcome, therefore not included as a PROB30 in the TAF. A westerly
wind shift is possibly at KGUY near the end of the TAF period, as
a front dips south from KS/CO.

A batch of showers continues this morning across north-central NM.
Showers will continue to dissipate as it treks northward. MVFR
cigs and visibility in the northern mountains will gradually
clear mid to late morning.
Showers and storms this afternoon will develop in west-central NM
in the early afternoon and move northeast at 10 to 20 mph through
the afternoon. While convection will be less numerous than the
past couple of days, there is a good chance most terminals along
and west of the Rio Grande Valley will be impacted today. Another
batch of storms will develop in and around the South Central
Mountains. Recent hi-res guidance suggests that this activity
will impact KROW during the afternoon and evening hours, with
potentially persistent showers and storms. Storms will generally
clear after 06Z, except for the southeast and northwest corners
of the state.
