VFR conditions are expected through the TAF period. The weak
convection that moved through the terminals over the last couple
of hours is now east of DEN/APA and quiet conditions are expected
the rest of the evening. Winds are expected to remain light and
variable, with a weak cold front eventually turning the wind to
more of a northerly component for a few hours near/after 06z.
Guidance has backed away from any sort of significant push of
moisture with this front, and thus the potential for stratus is
rather low. Still can`t totally rule that out, as the potential
remains somewhat dependent on any outflow moving out of the
convective clusters in central Nebraska... but the chances of any
impacts looks to be <10%.
A fairly typical diurnal wind pattern is likely for Friday, with
light northeast winds developing in the late morning hours...
continuing through most of the day. Most guidance does eventually
develop some weak instability by the afternoon, with scattered
SHRA/TSRA over the Front Range eventually attempting to push
across the metro, with the timing a couple of hours slower than
today.

The forecast period is expected to be mostly on the drier side,
however, there are low chances for a brief shower or thunderstorm
this evening as well as very late in the period. For this evening,
have maintained the some mention of showers for COS, and kept the
prob30 for thunder at PUB. Shower and thunderstorm chances increase
very late in the period, but given the time frame, have left out of
the TAFs at this time.
While only isolated showers and storms are occurring around the
terminals, several outflow boundaries are impacting COS and PUB.
Outside of any erratic winds owing to the precip, winds should
generally be out of the north northeast for COS and east northeast
for PUB. An increase in northerly wind speeds is likely at COS and
PUB early Friday morning, but with a diminishing trend through
Friday morning. Winds will generally be light at ALS.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms linger for a few hours this
evening. Conditions should remain VFR through the TAF period,
although may briefly drop to MVFR in the strongest storms. Moisture
values are decreasing, so wet thunderstorms will be transitioning to
dry thunderstorms into tomorrow. PROB30 groups are in place at
terminals with the best chance for storms Friday afternoon, which
includes KBPI, KCOD, KLND, KPNA, and KJAC.
As showers and storms transition to more virga and dry storms gusty
downdrafts and outflows will increase in likelihood and magnitude.
Outside of downdrafts and outflows wind will generally stay 10 knots
and lest through the TAF period. Fog is not expected at KJAC again
Friday morning thanks to the decrease in moisture.

Synoptically, a positively tilted shortwave trough aloft will
propagate into northeast Wyoming by early evening with its
associated cold front moving to a Douglas to Alliance line, then
the shortwave trough aloft will move to an eastern South Dakota
to western Nebraska line by dawn Friday as surface high
pressure settles in across our forecast area.
Wyoming TAFS...Confidence is high in only scattered high based
cumulus development near 9000 feet this afternoon and early
evening, with a near zero chance of thunderstorms as evidenced
by the 12Z NAM and latest HRRR runs. Expect the typical wind
gusts to near 30 knots caused by gradients and mix down winds
until sunset.
Nebraska TAFS...With an 850/700 theta-e ridge axis developing
across western Nebraska and an approaching cold front, we
anticipate isolated thunderstorms, producing wind gusts to 35
knots, though the thunderstorms are expected to remain only
isolated, thus not enough confidence to even include VCTS
through early evening based on visible satellite imagery and
WSR-88D reflectivity. Best chance for an isolated storm through
early evening will be at KCDR and KAIA where an infamous Dawes
County clipper storm could propagate through. Expect the typical
wind gusts to near 25 knots caused by gradients and mix down
winds until sunset. Nearly clear skies will prevail.

conditions expected across western and southwest Nebraska. As a
cold front moves through an area of low stratus MVFR and local
IFR conditions are expected along and northeast of a BBW to VTN
line. These ceilings should lift after sunrise Friday. Winds
will become gusty from the north to northeast at 15-25 kts late
tonight through the day Friday.

GLD: A thunderstorm cannot be ruled-out near the Goodland
terminal early this evening (00-03Z), however, confidence in
thunderstorm development and coverage is low enough to preclude
explicit mention with the 00Z TAF issuance. Light southerly or
variable winds will prevail through the afternoon. Winds will
shift to the N and increase to 12-17 knots this evening and
overnight. N winds will further increase to 15-25 knots shortly
after sunrise and remain breezy through the duration of the TAF
period.
MCK: Thunderstorms in north-central Nebraska could potentially
affect the McCook terminal this evening into tonight (02-07Z),
though.. current and recent high-res guidance suggests that
storms may be confined north and east of MCK. Will continue to
mention storm potential with a PROB30 group. Light SE or
variable winds will prevail through the afternoon. Winds will
shift to the N and increase to 10-15 knots this evening and
overnight. N winds will further increase to 15-25 knots shortly
after sunrise and remain breezy through the duration of the TAF
period.

VFR clouds above 6000ft AGL will increase late today and early
tonight as afternoon convection over eastern Colorado develops
and moves east into portions of southwest Kansas after 00z
Friday. At this time it appear that only Liberal will have a
chance for a few of these storms between 00z and 03z. For Garden
City, Dodge City and Hays, the chance for convection increases
after 03z with the highest potential occurring in the Hays area
between 04z and 09z Friday as a cold front moves crosses the
area. This cold front will continue to move south across the
remainder of southwest Kansas overnight. Southerly winds at 10
to 15 knots ahead of the cold front will shift to the northwest
and increase into the 15 to 25 knot range as this cold front
passes.

Otherwise, VFR conditions will prevail with winds becoming breezy

Fewer showers and thunderstorms are impacting New Mexico today
with activity mostly focused in southwestern and far northeastern
areas of the state. A few of the stronger storms will be capable
of brief heavy downpours that will temporarily lower ceilings and
visibility. Frequent lightning, small hail, and gusty downburst
winds will also accompany. Storms will dwindle and die off through
mid evenig. A moist front will move into eastern New Mexico late
Friday, bringing an increase in strong to severe thunderstorms
capable of producing larger hail in that eastern half of the state.
Storms west of the Rio Grande will be few and far between, mainly
developing over the Gila wilderness. Outside of storms, hot
temperatures and high density altitude readings will persist and
could impact aircraft performance.
