A quiet day occurred at the TAF sites today. Tonight drainage
winds will settle in for all sites by ~3z. KDEN and KAPA will see
enhanced S/SSW winds in the 12-16 kt range while KBJC will remain
much lighter out of the WSW. Light and variable winds should
develop in the morning around ~15 to 16z. Their is some uncertainty
in prevailing wind directions for tomorrow, so changes could
occur as we hopefully get more model agreement as the night
continues. Their remains a ~15% chance of an isolated high-based
shower with erratic gusty winds for tomorrow afternoon.
Instability is still expected to be little to none, so our
confidence in any activity still remains low.

KSLC...VFR conditions are expected at the SLC terminal through the
overnight hours, with northwest winds expected to become prevailing
southerly between 03Z and 05Z. A weak storm system will bring a low
(20-30 percent) chance of gusty and erratic winds from showers, most
likely between 08Z and 14Z.
REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...The airspace will see VFR
conditions through the night with generally light and terrain driven
winds. A weak storm system will bring a low (20-30 percent) chance
of gusty and erratic winds from showers for northern portions of the
airspace from the early morning to near sunrise. By mid-morning, the
most likely area for showers will shift to southwestern portions of
the airspace, with the low chance of gusty and erratic winds from
showers persisting through about midday.

Shortwave energy that is producing enhanced cloud cover and embedded
light showers across the northern Great Basin continues to progress
eastward within zonal flow late Thursday afternoon. These clouds and
light showers or virga traverse the region overnight and Friday
morning. KJAC has the best chance to see light showers late tonight,
mainly between 09Z-13Z/Friday. Given that conditions should remain
VFR and precipitation impacts brief, have not included PROB30 with
this forecast issuance. Cloud cover generally ends from west-to -
east between 15Z-21Z/Friday as the wave track eastbound. As for
wind, ongoing west to northwest surface wind 10-20kts lingers
through the evening in the Wind River Basin, while other terminals
see a decrease in speeds by 03Z/Friday. Gusty westerly surface wind
returns to most terminals between 15Z-19Z/Friday ahead of an
approaching afternoon cold front from the north. This front shifts
the wind to the north at KCOD and KWRL after 22Z/Friday. Occasional
mountain top obscurations between 07Z-15Z/Friday.

High confidence in VFR conditions through the TAF period as we
remain underneath a flat ridge characterized by zonal flow aloft.
Mid and upper-level clouds will increase this evening and into the
overnight hours ahead of a weak shortwave trough ejecting to the
north and east, however cigs will remain aoa 15 kft. Expect
primarily SW winds to prevail overnight before gradually veer to W
or WNW by sunrise, with gusts as high as 25-30 knots due to
strengthening gradient flow as lee cyclogenesis takes place over
South Dakota.

next 24 hours. Gusty south winds will persist this evening and
overnight, especially across the Sandhills and north central
Nebraska. In addition to this, a strong low level jet will
bring LLWS concerns across most of the region tonight, with
winds around 2,000 ft agl remaining around 40 knots. This will
affect the KLBF terminal 08Z until 13Z, and KVTN from 07Z until
13Z. Gusty southwest winds Friday morning will become more
westerly into the afternoon with gusts 25KT to 30KT through the
day, especially across north central Nebraska including KVTN.

For KGLD and KMCK, VFR conditions are expected to prevail through
the TAF period. For KGLD, winds will be mainly out of the south
around 15 knots until they become more light and variable around
18Z.
Conditions will be windier at KMCK through the TAF period with gusts
around 20-25 knots possible. A few hours of patchy low-level wind
shear is possible around 11Z. Friday evening, isolated showers and
thunderstorms are possible. Confidence is low at this time that the
terminal will be directly impacted.

Light southeast winds will become more southerly overnight as
surface pressures begins to develop along the lee of the Rockies
and the surface ridge moves east/southeast of the area. This
south southeasterly upslope flow will draw more humid air into
southwest Kansas and a few of the latest CAMS indicate that
patchy fog or even low ifr/vfr stratus may be possible between
11z and 15z Friday. Guidance indicating a low probability of
this occurring (<30%) so at this time have decided to trend
towards some patchy fog/stratus given these latest CAMS but not
go as low as what a few of these models suggest given low
confidence. After daybreak on Friday the southerly winds will
increase into the 15 to 20 knot range as the trough of low
pressure over eastern Colorado deepens.

A weather system continues to move across the panhandles causing
thunderstorms in the southern Texas panhandle. There is a low
chance for these storms to be strong to severe producing large
hail and damaging winds. Further any storm can produce heavy
to torrential rainfall with severe visibility reductions. This can
be IFR to VLIFR in the heavier rain shafts. These storms are
currently to the south of KAMA and are heading southward. Still
there is a low to medium chance for further thunderstorm
development thus KAMA TAF still reflects thunderstorms on station.
All the thunderstorm activity will come to an end this evening
leaving VFR and fair weather conditions for the panhandles. Winds
will be breezy from the south to southwest for Friday afternoon.

A few isolated thunderstorms are threatening locally gusty winds,
hail, and lightning along the east slopes of the Sangre de Cristo
Mts and the southeastern quadrant of NM from KCVN to KROW. This
activity will clear this evening alongside calming W/NW winds
elsewhere across central and western NM with VFR prevailing
areawide thru tonight. There may be a few isolated pockets of
patchy fog Friday morning, mainly favoring KAXX in the Moreno
Valley. Otherwise, mostly dry conditions will be favored alongside
breezy W/NW winds thru central and western NM. Some of this drier
air will advance into eastern NM Friday afternoon as W/SW wind
direction, reaching the TX border last.
