VFR conditions should prevail through the TAF period. Drainage
winds are expected to continue overnight, with an increase in
south-southwesterly flow Saturday morning. Guidance generally
favors a 220-240 direction with momentum transfer profiles
suggesting some gusts around 25-35kt. Scattered convection is
expected to develop by the early/mid afternoon, and could enhance
gusts a bit given any stronger downdraft. Didn`t make many changes
to the previous TAF but did adjust the timing slightly on the
PROB30 groups. A little uncertainty on what the post-convective
flow looks like, but guidance generally favors weak drainage
Saturday night.
As noted in the previous discussion, considerably more uncertainty
with Saturday`s winds at BJC, which often remains sheltered during
southwesterly flow events. Could see a few puffs of wind out of
the SW but winds should predominantly remain light before shifting
off to the west or northwest.

Overall generally quiet early this morning, with the bulk of the
showers and VFR ceilings staying to the northwest and west of the
terminals. With lighter winds at the surface early this morning and
likely increased flow over COS, did add LLWS in the tafs earlier
though I do think this should improve as winds steadily increase
through the morning hours.
For all TAF sites, anticipate the winds and gusts to continue
increasing during the morning hours, with winds gusting out of the
southwest up to around 30 kt by midday. During this time, precip
development will be on the increase and begin pushing off of the
mountains. Development then pushes east through mid afternoon,
though coverage looks to remain isolated to widely scattered and
even in somewhat narrower broken line. Given this, have maintained
the prob30 for ALS through mid afternoon, and even for COS and PUB
by mid to late afternoon as this precip moves through. Chances for
thunder are even lower at this time, and so have not made mention of
any thunder. Both increasing likelihood of showers and even the
potential increased likelihood for thunder will need to be monitored
later today though. With increasing flow through the afternoon, did
increase wind speeds and gusts with gusts likely approaching 40kt.
There is a low chance for a small window of higher gusts late this
afternoon, potentially in the mid to 40 kt range.
The system moves through with precip chances quickly lowering
through the evening hours, along with skies clearing. Winds and
gusts diminish during this time, however, flow aloft may still be on
the stronger side and will monitor for the potential of LLWS again
this evening.

Showers and thunderstorms continue to race northward mainly east
of the Colorado/Utah border, although activity is beginning to
fill in across northeast Utah. With the speed that these showers
and storms are moving, the main concerns are lightning and gusty
winds, with a lesser concern of very brief heavy rain. Winds
remain elevated and south to southwesterly, with sustained winds
forecast tonight to be 10-20 knots, and gust of 25-35 knots.
These winds increase through the morning tomorrow, and finally
start to diminish after 00z tomorrow evening. Ceilings remain
lowered and will flirt with breakpoints at times, especially at
KASE, KEGE, KRIL, and KTEX. VFR conditions are expected to
prevail, but drops to MVFR/IFR will be possible, especially at
higher elevation terminals.

VFR conditions to start the period at all TAF sites. Showers in
the vicinity of BPI/PNA/COD/WRL for the first couple of hours
before a break for rain shower activity until after 12Z. This
is when another wave comes out of northeastern Utah and eastern
Idaho, first for JAC/BPI/PNA, then RKS after 13Z, and COD after
15Z. Some isolated chances for CPR before 12Z with what is
coming across south central portions of the state but confidence
low (<20%).
Otherwise, activity spreads east to RIW/LND/WRL after 18Z with
a more steadier rain through the end of the period keeping it as
predominant at this point in time. More MVFR to IFR conditions
after sunset and cooling aiding in evaporative cooling to
hinder visibility and lower the stratus deck. Worst conditions
at COD by the end of the period being first affected by FROPA
that will extend south and southeastward into the next TAF cycle
overnight into Sunday morning.

expected to remain breezy through most of the overnight hours.
VFR conditions will prevail throughout the night, but some lower

threat.

LLWS is expected across portions of southwest Nebraska into
the Sandhills and central Nebraska through early Saturday
morning with gust up to 45 kts. Surface winds will remain strong
through the entire forecast period, generally out of the south around
10 to 15 kt with gust around 25 kts through this morning. Winds
will increase Saturday late morning through evening around 15
to 20 kts with gust near 30 kts out of the south to southwest.
There will also be a chance for showers and thunderstorms this
evening, confidence remains low in how widespread the coverage
will be, but greatest time period for showers/thunderstorms will
be in the late evening for both KLBF and KVTN terminals.

sub-VFR conditions assoc/w high-based showers and storms during
the evening (~01-05Z Sun).. VFR conditions will otherwise
prevail. Breezy (15-25 knot) south winds.. and LLWS associated
with a 50-55 knot southerly low-level jet at ~1000-1500 ft AGL
(per KGLD velocity data at 0500 UTC).. will prevail through
sunrise. S-SSW winds will increase to 20-30 knots within a few
hours after sunrise, further increasing to 30-40 knots by ~18Z
and persisting through the afternoon. South winds will decrease
to ~20-30 knots after sunset.. further decreasing to 10-20
knots and shifting to the W-NW (or becoming variable) near the
end of the TAF period (~06Z Sunday).

VFR/SKC will continue through this TAF period, but strong south
winds will impact aviation operations through Saturday.
After 15z Sat, strong south winds are expected at all airports,
gusting 35-37 kts. The strongest south winds can be expected
during the 21z Sat - 00z Sun time frame. Another strong low
level jet is forecast Saturday night, and included LLWS again
after 06z Sun. With the low level jet and excellent mixing,
south winds will remain elevated and gusty after sunset Saturday
evening.

Upper low centered north of Las Vegas, NV will continue to stream in
increasing southerly to southwesterly winds into NM tonight
resulting in widespread LLWS impacts to terminals. An area of
showers and thunderstorms near KFMN will also continue to slowly
progress eastwards over the CO San Juans tonight and NM Tusas Mts
Saturday morning. LLWS concerns abate as stronger winds aloft reach
the surface at many locations b/w 16Z to 18Z Saturday, peaking in
strength with widespread gusts of 20kts to 30kts in the afternoon.
Wind prone locations from KLVS to KRTN will likely see peak gusts
of 35kts to 40kts Saturday afternoon. Have also continued mention
of PROB30s for short duration showers and stronger gusty winds
with the passage of the Pacific Cold front into the Rio Grande
Valley from KSAF to KABQ. Prevailing wind speeds fall past 01Z to
03Z Saturday evening for many western and central terminals.
