.AVIATION /18Z TAFS through 18Z Sunday/...
Issued at 1129 AM MDT Sat Jul 12 2025
Winds are currently light and vrb across the Denver TAF sites as a
Denver Cyclone becomes more developed late this morning. Once the
cyclone settles in, winds are expected to have a NNE component
before making their way towards the east by ~22Z to 23Z this
afternoon for KDEN/KBJC. There are uncertainties with how today
will unfold with regards to KAPA as the cyclone may produce a
convergence zone over or near the airfield as portrayed in a few
hi-res CAMs. This would also allow for a better environment to
break the cap that is currently in place as shown in the latest
ACARS sounding, and why the PROB30 is in place for TS over KAPA
later this afternoon. Or, the convergence zone stays south of
KAPA, and winds keep a more NNE component through the afternoon. While
there is a small chance (15-20%) that convection develops a
little more northward that could impact KDEN, the more likely
scenario is that the cyclone helps keep convection to the south,
keeping the cap in place.
Winds are expected to follow the normal diurnal pattern for the
overnight hours tonight through the morning on Sunday.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z SUNDAY/...
Issued at 1109 AM MDT Sat Jul 12 2025
VFR conditions are near certain during the next 24 hours at all
3 taf sites, KPUB, KALS and KCOS. The only exception will be for
a slight chance of a passing -TSRA later this afternoon and
early evening at any of the 3 taf sites. Most if not all of the
activity should remain west of KCOS and KPUB, and east of KALS.
Winds will be diurnally driven through the fcst period. Some
outflow for storms in the vicinity will be possible later this
afternoon and early evening.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z SUNDAY/...
Issued at 1119 AM MDT Sat Jul 12 2025
Mostly clear skies and VFR conditions will continue at
terminals. Isolated chances (<20%) for showers and
thunderstorms will continue against the Divide, but confidence
is low in storms forming far enough west to impact terminals.
Showers/storms will be capable of producing gusty outflows and
lightning, but not much else with the dry air in place. Wildfire
smoke will continue to ebb and flow across southwest Colorado.
Mentioned reduced visibility for KMTJ, KGUC, KTEX, and KDRO
thanks to smoke. Northerly flow will likely keep other terminals
out of the path of smoke plumes.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z SUNDAY/...

Salt Lake City Aviation Discussion
Issued at 2053 UTC Saturday, July 12, 2025

.AVIATION...KSLC...Minimal operational concerns are forecast for the
KSLC terminal as clear skies and diurnally driven wind patterns
prevail. Northwesterly upvalley flows will remain in place through
around 03-04Z, then revert to a southerly downvalley flow
thereafter. VFR conditions prevail through the next 30 hours.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...VFR conditions will persist
for the entire airspace through the period. Isolated high-based
showers across portions of southern Utah will bring a low chance of
gusty outflows through about 02Z before skies clear through the
overnight hours. Winds will become largely light and terrain driven
as high pressure builds into the area.

.AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z SUNDAY/...
Issued at 414 PM MDT Sat Jul 12 2025
All terminals to be VFR through the forecast period. A few virga
showers drift southeast off the southern end of the Wind River Range
early Saturday evening. Otherwise, nothing more than mid/high cloud
cover early in the period, which gives way to a clear sky by sunrise
Sunday. More cumulus anticipated Sunday afternoon, but there is only
a very low chance of convective impacts at terminals. Gusty westerly
wind 10-18kts at terminals west of the Continental Divide diminishes
around 02Z/Sunday. Speeds at these terminals will be around 10kts
Sunday afternoon.
Please see the Aviation Weather Center and/or CWSU ZDV and ZLC for
the latest information on smoke, icing, and turbulence
forecasts.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z SUNDAY/...
Issued at 1148 AM MDT Sat Jul 12 2025
VFR conditions are expected to become prevalent across the
region this afternoon and continue through the end of the TAF
period. The low to mid clouds across the area will lift to mid
to high level and then dissipate overnight bringing clear skies.
Winds will vary across the area from site to site, but expect
winds generally 10-20 knots, becoming mostly light and variable
overnight into tomorrow morning. Finally of note, a shower or
possible weak storm could be possible this afternoon for
KLAR/KCYS, but probabilities are too low to include in TAFs
but will be monitored.

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 1144 AM CDT Sat Jul 12 2025
The weather system has departed the panhandles with most of the rain
shower and thunderstorm activity ending. What little remains of this
activity is not expected to impact any of the terminals.
There is lingering moisture over the panhandles causing both low and
mid level cloud decks. The low level clouds are mostly in the north
central to northern panhandles causing MVFR conditions. This is
currently impacting KDHT and to a lesser extent KGUY. Conditions
should improve to VFR as this cloud deck lifts and scatters. Then
the VFR conditions hold through the rest of the night into Sunday.
The sole exception would be with the very low chance of fog
formation overnight into Sunday morning. If this fog occurs then
IFR or worse conditions may be expected in fog banks. However the
chances of this are way to low to be reflected in any of the TAFs
at this time.

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 128 PM MDT Sat Jul 12 2025
A moist backdoor cold front that surged west thru the RGV last night
has become stationary near the Cont Divide. This boundary will serve
as the initiation point for storms after 1pm. Activity is likely to
develop along the central mt chain as well during this time. Storm
motions will be slow toward the south with additional development
expected on boundary collisions within the RGV after 5pm. Any direct
hits will be capable of brief MVFR vsbys in heavy rainfall, strong
outflow, small hail, and frequent lightning strikes. Storms may not
form over eastern NM until after 6pm given a conditionally unstable
airmass currently in place. However, by this evening, activity that
is rolling off the central mt chain and nearby highlands continue
across the plains as storm clusters and broken line segments thru
midnight. Another batch of patchy MVFR low cigs are possible over
eastern NM, especially from the Pecos River westward to the east
slopes of the central mt chain.
