.AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z TUESDAY/...
Issued at 429 AM MDT Mon Sep 14 2026
VFR conditions are expected through the forecast period. And
light showers should end shortly after sunrise. The main concern
today will be wind, which will be gusty at most TAF sites. The
strongest wind is expected to be in vicinity of KCOD, KCPR, KRKS
and KRIW where gusts to over 25 knots will be likely at times
through the day. All locations could see gusts of 15 to 20 knots
though, especially at the in the afternoon. Wind should decrease
tonight after sunset as the atmosphere decouples.

.AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z TUESDAY/...
Issued at 544 AM MDT Mon Sep 14 2026
Lingering showers, storms, and low clouds will continue to
promote a mixture of all flight categories for all sites except
for KRWL/KLAR over the next few hours. But these should be
clearing and lifting as stronger winds from the SW to W move
across the region and continue to turn more NW`ly into the later
hours before becoming N`ly to NE`ly overnight. Widespread gusts
of 20-35 knots expected, but locally stronger gusts of 40+ knots
possible, primarily impacting KRWL for the highest speeds. While
winds should weaken into the evening hours, some stronger speeds
10-20 knots could impact KCYS/KSNY/KAIA overnight. CIGs will
lift through the day and clear, with mid to high level clouds or
SKC by tonight.

GLD: Aside from a low (~30%) chance for showers/storms this
afternoon, VFR conditions will otherwise prevail today. MVFR-
IFR ceilings are expected to develop in the wake of a cold
frontal passage around or shortly before sunrise Tue, at the end
of the 12Z TAF period. LLWS associated with a 50-55 KT SSW low-
level jet will abate after sunrise (~14Z), when surface winds
are expected to increase to 20-25 knots with gusts to 30-35
knots. SW winds will veer to the WSW and decrease to 15-20 knots
with gusts to ~25 knots during the late morning (by ~18Z) and
persist through the afternoon, then further weaken and become
variable after sunset (~03Z Tue). Winds will shift to the NE and
increase to 15-25 knots in the wake of a cold frontal passage
at the end of the 12Z TAF period.
MCK: As of 09Z this morning, MVFR-IFR ceilings have already
scattered out. VFR conditions are expected to prevail today.
LLWS associated with a 50-55 knot southerly low-level jet will
abate after sunrise (~14Z), when SSW surface winds are expected
to increase to 15-20 knots with gusts to ~30 knots. SW winds
will veer to the WSW and decrease to 10-15 knots with gusts to
20-25 knots during the late morning and early afternoon, then
further weaken and become variable late this afternoon and
evening. Winds will shift to the NE and increase to 15-25 knots
in the wake of a cold frontal passage at the end of the 12Z TAF
period.

VFR conditions will prevail in vicinity of all TAF sites through early
evening. Thunderstorms are then expected to develop along and ahead
of a cold front approaching from the northwest, potentially affecting
the vicinity of KGCK and KLBL generally after 00-02Z. Light southerly
winds through mid-morning are forecast to increase 25 to 35kt with
gusts up to 45kt this afternoon as a lee side trough of low pressure
strengthens in eastern Colorado ahead of the aforementioned approaching
cold front, then subside this evening with loss of daytime heating.

VFR conditions are forecast to hold through the 12Z TAF period.
Strong winds, with gusts up to 35 kts, are expected at all sites
through most of the day. The wind direction will start from the
southwest, but may steadily become southerly by the late afternoon
and evening. A PROB30 has been added for KDHT due to persistent
thunderstorm chances at the terminal this evening. Mentions of
thunder may be included at KGUY with future packages, but
confidence remains too low to include them at this time.

Confidence on the timing and placement of SHRA/TS is low to
moderate today. A batch of scattered SHRA and isolated TS in the
RGV before sunrise is expected to dissipate thru 10AM. A second
area of SHRA/TS may form over east-central AZ this morning then
move northeast across northwest NM thru early this afternoon. The
next batch of stronger storms may form near the Cont Divide early
this afternoon then shift northeast into the RGV and central mt
chain thru sunset. Some of this activity may produce brief MVFR
cigs/vsbys with heavy rainfall, small hail, and wind gusts >35KT.
Scattered SHRA and isolated TS may continue all night in central
and western NM but confidence is low. There is a low chance for
MVFR cigs around the northern and western NM by sunrise Tuesday.
