Developmental Probabilistic Snow Accumulation Forecast

This developmental product contains the probabilities (%) that the given snow
amounts (inches) will occur at Denver International Airport during the respec-
tive 3- or 12-hour periods.  The probabilities indicate the amount of snow that
is expected to accumulate on runways and other concrete surfaces at DIA.

Short Term (26/17-27/17 MST): Scattered rain showers will develop late this
evening into the wee morning hours, and then become more widespread by 2-3 and
changing to all snow by 4-5 am. A band of heavier snow is possible with snowfall
rates up to 1" per hour in the 4 am to 7 am window.  Snow will then continue off
and on through mid afternoon Wednesday, decreasing and ending by mid to late
afternoon.  Temperatures will hover in the lower 30s by Wednesday morning with
light northeasterly winds. Overall, modest snow rates and mild temperatures will
limit snow accumulation on runways, but some snow accumulation (up to 1-1.5
inches) would be possible (20-25% chance) if that heavier snow band moves across
the airport.  Otherwise, 2-3 inches of snow on the grass and other elevated
surfaces in most likely, with just a brief period of slush on runways.
