The greatest risk will be along and north of I-70. Outside of the thunderstorms, southwest winds will continue to increase today, with gusts to 30-40 mph over most of the area this afternoon. With the winds will also come elevated fire weather conditions. Avoid any open burning today. Mountain areas will see mainly snow showers by this evening as temperatures turn colder, but only light snow accumulations (less than 2 inches) expected. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday Rain showers will redevelop Sunday evening, concentrating in/near the foothills along and north of I-70. Snow levels will drop to around 8,000 feet with a couple inches of snow accumulation expected in the higher foothills and Front Range mountains. A slight chance of light showers will linger through early next week, along with much cooler and well below normal temperatures. Drier and warmer weather will return for Wednesday through the end of next week. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation is not anticipated today or tonight. However, any reports of strong, gusty winds or wind damage will be appreciated. $$
