.DISCUSSION...
Current observations near the fire show light (<10 mph) and
variable winds, with occasional gusts up to 20 mph from the
northwest to northeast. Generally expect winds from the northeast
to southeast this afternoon, with sustained 20-ft wind speeds from
5-15 mph and gusts no stronger than 20-25 mph. However, afternoon
showers and thunderstorms could produce erratic outflows of 35-40
mph in addition to lightning and localized heavy rainfall. While
it does seem like the majority of the storms will stay north and
east of the fire, there is still a 30-40% chance, mainly between
1700-2100 MDT.
Mixing heights will range from 6,000 - 12,000 feet this afternoon
and early evening, resulting in Good smoke dispersal conditions.
Overnight humidity recoveries will be up to 60-70%.
For tomorrow, generally light (<10 mph) and variable winds are
expected in the morning and early afternoon. With the arrival of
monsoon moisture, there is a better chance for scattered to
numerous showers and thunderstorms beginning in the early
afternoon and continuing into late evening and overnight hours.
Main concerns with the strongest storms will be lighting, erratic
outflow winds of 35-40 mph, and localized heavy rainfall.
