.DISCUSSION...
Above normal temperatures and dry conditions are expected through
the week as upper-level ridging builds over the western US.
Temperatures are forecast to warm into the 60s and 70s in the days
leading up to your planned burn days, with relative humidities
expected to drop into the upper teens/20s from Monday onward.
Tuesday is still expected to see increased northwest winds by the
afternoon that could create elevated fire weather conditions
across the northern plains, aiding in drying fuels in areas near
and including the burn site. By Wednesday, subsident flow and
light winds will keep smoke dispersal conditions at Poor through
the day. Thursday will see slightly stronger winds than Wednesday
that should allow for a brief period of Fair smoke dispersal
conditions in the afternoon, as mixing heights lift to just over
4,000 feet. The ridge should start to move eastward by Friday or
Saturday that will potentially bring increased winds, however, at
this time, smoke dispersal is still expected to be Poor on Friday.
Mixing heights should begin to lift by Saturday afternoon (between
6,000-7,000 feet) that will bring better conditions for smoke
dispersion, and RH values will increase to between 25-35%.
