.DISCUSSION...Widely scattered high-based showers and a couple of
thunderstorms are expected this afternoon. The first few showers
of the day have developed around the area, with the strongest
cells between Castle Rock and Centennial. A couple showers are
developing in the vicinity of the fire, with additional
development also noted across most of Park county. While the
chance of lightning (30%) and wetting rainfall (10%) remain low,
it`s fairly likely that variable/gusty winds will be an issue most
of the afternoon. The best chance of direct impacts
(lightning/rain) will be between now and 5PM, with chances
slowly decreasing in the evening. Outside of outflow winds, winds
should predominantly be out of the south or southwest.
With Polhemus RAWS already at 80F and 23% RH, it`s likely we`ll
see a bit more warming/drying over the next hour or two.
Temperatures today should peak in the low 80s, with relative
humidity falling into about the 16-21% range.
Tomorrow will be warmer and drier, with locally critical fire
weather conditions likely. While a Red Flag Warning is not in
effect for the zone due to reported fuel conditions, our forecast
does call for several hours of critical humidity (falling to
around 10-14%) and southwesterly wind gusts of 30-40 mph.
