.DISCUSSION...Winds will start out at a southwesterly drainage
Sunday morning. With no observations in close proximity, there is
potential for some of the winds near daybreak to be slightly
lighter speeds than what is portrayed here (based on Independence
Mountain RAWS). With the location being at such a high elevation,
the diurnal upslope winds will struggle to make it up that high,
and expect more influence from the westerly flow aloft, making the
more likely scenario be westerly winds developing by around 1200,
with gusts between 15 to 20 mph expected. There is a slight
chance for thunderstorms to develop from 1200 through the
afternoon, which would allow for some gusty and variable winds to
develop. Relative humidity values are expected to drop into the
upper teens to low 20s, and the max temperature will be in the mid
60s.
Overnight Sunday, winds will return to a S/SW drainage with gusts
between 10-15 mph. Overnight RH recovery looks meager, with
values only climbing to the upper 30% range. Temperatures will
drop into the upper 40s.
For Monday, we are expecting a similar wind pattern as Sunday`s,
with slightly warmer temperatures and lower chances for
precipitation by the afternoon. RH values are expected to drop
into the lower teens in the afternoon.
