.DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...Warm and dry conditions will
continue today. A weak cold front will bring some better moisture
into the far eastern plains, but that moisture isn`t expected to
reach most of the plains and urban corridor. Daytime RH should
fall to 7-15% across the lower foothills and adjacent plains,
where elevated fire weather conditions are expected. Winds should
be weaker than yesterday, but there may be just enough wind for
some spotty critical fire weather conditions across eastern Elbert
and northern Lincoln county. Good to very good smoke dispersal is
expected across the entire forecast area this afternoon.
LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Wednesday through Saturday...Persistent
warm and dry conditions will continue through Thursday. Relative
humidities are expected to drop into the low to mid teens across
the plains on Wednesday, however, winds will generally be light
with the exception of some enhanced winds expected for a few hours
in the early afternoon across Lincoln County. This will lead to
elevated fire weather conditions developing for a short time in
this area. Winds will increase on Thursday ahead of an approaching
low pressure system. Critical fire weather conditions are
expected to develop across the south and eastern portion of the
forecast area, stretching from eastern Park County across the
Palmer Divide, north and east into southern Washington County from
early Thursday afternoon through early Thursday evening, where
wind gusts between 25 and 35 mph are expected. Winds will
increase further on Friday, with widespread 50 to 65 mph winds
expected across the majority of the plains, however, increased
moisture will help keep critical fire weather conditions at bay.
Conditions will improve as the low moves out of the area, with
winds gradually decreasing Saturday.
