.DISCUSSION...Tonight and Thursday...
Elevated fire weather conditions will be in place across Elbert
and Lincoln Counties Thursday afternoon, with relative humidity in
the mid teens, and a few hours of wind gusts approaching 25 mph.
Otherwise, expecting cooler temperatures generally dry conditions
by the afternoon.
LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Thursday night through Monday...
A few low pressure systems will brush the region through this
weekend, keeping breezy conditions in place most days. Humidity
levels should remain high enough Friday and Saturday to limit
fire weather concerns, with Saturday seeing the breezier conditions
with gusts 30-40 mph becoming fairly widespread across the mountains
and rural plains. Warm and dry weather is favored Sunday, but with
lighter winds. There is potential for locally critical fire weather
conditions Monday afternoon across the southern plains, as winds
are expected to strengthen regionwide, and low humidity may be slow
to exit ahead of an approaching system. Elsewhere however, chances
for precipitation will increase, and humidity levels will moderate.
Favorable winds will sustain Good to Excellent smoke dispersal
conditions for most areas each afternoon.
