.DISCUSSION...Tonight through Friday...
Warmer and drier conditions are expected over the next few days
across the forecast area. There will be a gradual increase in
afternoon temperatures each day before the mid to upper 90s return
across the lower elevations by mid-week. This is due to a
persistent upper-level ridge building over the Four Corners
region. Another round of afternoon convection is possible Monday
afternoon, mainly for areas along the Palmer Divide and eastern
plains, but moisture will be lacking for any real significant
precipitation to accumulate. As the temperatures increase,
moisture is expected to decrease, with sparse chances for any
showers or precipitation across the forecast area after Monday. We
should see some patchy elevated fire weather conditions develop
come Wednesday and Thursday due to minimum relative humidity
values dropping to near and below critical thresholds when
temperatures are at their hottest. However, winds are expected to
remain generally light under the ridge, so the threat of any
critical fire weather conditions developing will be low. Moisture
should start to return by Thursday or Friday as a cold front moves
across the forecast area bringing some relief from the hot and
dry conditions.
