Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO
142 PM MDT Fri Oct 4 2024

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 7 PM MDT SATURDAY FOR
MOST OF JACKSON COUNTY AND NORTHWEST LARIMER COUNTY...

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM MDT THIS EVENING MOST OF
NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST COLORADO...

.DISCUSSION...Tonight and Saturday...Gusty west-southwest winds
over north central Colorado will subside by early evening as the
airmass stabilizes. The dry airmass will remain in place overnight
with poor relative humidity recoveries over the higher terrain.

For Saturday, widespread gusty winds to 35 mph (up to 50 mph over
the mountains) will prevail over the higher terrain and far
northeast plains Saturday. Gusty winds will be more spotty across
the urban corridor and nearby plains with eddies producing erratic
winds with gusty west-northwest winds near light southeast winds. It
will be warm and very dry throughout the area with relative
humidities falling into the 10-15 percent range.

LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Saturday night through Wednesday...
Widespread minimum relative humidities between 13-20% are possible
across northeastern Colorado Sunday. Although winds remain light for
majority of the region, southeasterly winds along the eastern plains
could produce wind gusts up to 18-22 mph during Sunday afternoon.
This could lead to brief near critical fire weather conditions
mainly for parts of the Palmer Divide, northern Lincoln county and
southern Washington county during Sunday afternoon and early
evening. Cooler temperatures are short lived Sunday as above normal
temperatures return through late next week.

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty erratic winds...
...All surface winds are 20-Foot...10-Minute averaged winds...
...CWR is Chance of Wetting Rain - 0.10 inch or more liquid...
...24 HR Trends are based on averages over the respective zone
groups and may not match the actual forecast values
                    shown in those groups...
