.DISCUSSION...Tonight and Saturday...
Clearing skies will allow strong but shallow inversions to develop
tonight. Areas of fog will develop in low lying areas and high
mountain valleys. Saturday will feature a return of sunshine and
warmer temperatures. Winds will remain light near the surface and
aloft, keeping smoke dispersal in the poor category in almost all
areas.
LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Saturday night through Wednesday...
Another weather disturbance will move into the area Sunday
afternoon and Sunday night, bringing areas of light rain and
mountain snow. Temperatures will turn a little cooler with higher
humidity levels.
Strong and gusty winds are becoming more likely at least for the
mountains and northeast plains for late Monday into Tuesday as a
fast moving disturbance moves in from the Pacific Northwest.
Temperatures will turn colder late Monday through Tuesday, so
humidity levels will stay well above critical thresholds. Smoke
dispersal should also improve during this period. Wednesday should
feature some warming to near seasonal normals, while winds
decrease.
