.DISCUSSION...Rest of today through Friday...

A short warming trend is on tap for today and Friday, with mostly
dry conditions expected across the forecast area. A dry airmass is
currently in place across Colorado that will lead to areas of
elevated fire weather conditions developing this afternoon where
relative humidities are expected to drop into the single digits to
low teens across much of the forecast area. The main areas for
elevated fire weather conditions are expected to be in Jackson
County/North Park, where single digit RH will mix with marginal
gusty winds (20-25 mph) this afternoon. Patchy elevated to
critical fire weather conditions are expected on Friday where a
slight increase in mid-level moisture over the northern mountains
will lower concerns in North Park, but shift them into our other
high mountain valleys and localized areas along the Continental
Divide. There will likely be patchy elevated to critical fire
weather conditions along the Wyoming border as well where both RH
and wind speeds will hover near critical thresholds.


LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Friday night through Tuesday...

A cold front is expected to cool temperatures down to near normal
to slightly below normal values on Saturday across the plains. We
are expecting a further increase in moisture that will increase
shower and storm chances each afternoon from Saturday onwards,
though any wetting rain chances will remain limited until Monday
and Tuesday. One more hot day is expected on Sunday between
another cold front expected sometime Monday-Tuesday. Winds are
expected to increase through the week but relative humidity
values are expected to remain above critical thresholds from
Saturday onwards.
