.DISCUSSION...Tonight and Wednesday...Scattered snow showers
should continue across the mountains this evening into the
overnight hours. As a storm system approaches, light upslope flow
should develop east of the Front Range, with snow developing
across the mountains into the I-25 corridor. Light to moderate
snow is expected to continue through most of the day before
tapering off Wednesday night. Smoke dispersal is generally
forecast to remain poor, though a few hours of fair dispersal is
possible for the Cheyenne Ridge and far northeast plains.
LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Wednesday night through Sunday...
Wednesday`s winter system will gradually diminish through
Wednesday evening from north to south across the forecast area. In
its wake, drier conditions will set in for Thursday. A gradual
warming is expected across the region through the long term
period, with multiple waves of mountain snow possible from Friday
onward while the lower elevations are largely expected to remain
dry, from the I-25 corridor eastward, through the weekend. While
only light snowfall accumulations are expected on Friday for the
high country, slightly more robust moisture is expected Saturday
into Sunday that will bring some more notable accumulations, with
an emphasis on the northern mountains and elevations above 10,000
feet. Winds will increase on Saturday and Sunday, however, RH
values are expected to remain well above any critical thresholds
through the weekend. Smoke dispersal looks to remain favorable
across the mountains, foothills, and northern plains through the
period.
