.DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...A mostly dry and warming
airmass will be in place over the forecast area today. There
may be just enough moisture for a few late day snow showers
over the high mountains. Humidity levels will drop into the
20-30 percent range this afternoon for a few hours over the
plains and high valleys, but should be higher in the
mountains and foothills. Critical fir weather conditions
are not expected. Smoke dispersal will be good to very
good this afternoon for the high country but excellent
over the plains.
LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Monday through Thursday...Warm, dry, and
breezy conditions are forecast on Monday. High temperatures will
reach the 70s across the plains, with widespread wind gusts of 20
to 30 mph during the afternoon hours. Elevated to critical fire
weather conditions are likely for most of the plains during the
afternoon, with higher RH west of I-25. Quieter conditions are
forecast on Tuesday with slightly increased RH and weaker winds.
Moisture will increase for the latter half of the week, with
isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms each afternoon.
Excellent smoke dispersal is expected on Monday, with good to
excellent dispersal forecast on Tuesday... with a gradual
decreasing trend through the rest of the week.
