* Southwest Idaho BLM (ID Zones 400, 420, 423, 424, 426)...Hot
and dry today and tomorrow with a slowly increasing chance of
thunder along the ID/NV border. Tonight, isolated lightning is
possible south of Twin Falls, but coverage increases Friday
night ahead of a cold front. Friday night into Saturday morning,
scattered showers with some weak embedded thunderstorms could
produce strong outflow gusts up to 45 mph and more isolated
lightning. Storms become stronger Saturday evening, but more
widely scattered, capable of outflow gusts up to 50 mph and more
lightning activity. Mixing heights around 11-12 kft AGL show
unstable conditions even outside of storms. Outside of storms,
winds are still breezy due to the frontal passage up to 25 mph.
* Southwest Idaho Forest (ID Zones 401, 402, 403, 421)...Hot and
dry today and tomorrow. The coming cold front brings an uptick
in shower and storm potential Friday night and Saturday
afternoon and evening. Friday night, most activity will be
scattered showers with some weak embedded thunderstorms. Strong
gusts to 45 mph are possible out of showers, but lightning
activity will be minimal. Stronger storms are possible Saturday
evening, with gusts up to 50 mph and better lightning potential.
Abundant lightning is possible, but we are waiting to evaluate
how wet the storm mode and surface conditions will be. Mixing
heights around 9-10 kft AGL show unstable conditions even
outside of storms. Sunday, conditions remain dry but post-
frontal winds bring mountain gusts up to 20 to 30 mph in the
afternoon.
* Southeast Oregon (OR Zones 670-675)...Hot and dry today and
tomorrow. A cold front this weekend brings some scattered
showers and isolated lightning Friday night. Pre-frontal winds
pick up on Saturday with afternoon wind gusts up to 35 mph at
the same time RHs are 10-15%. Isolated thunderstorms are
possible over mountains and the ID border on Saturday, but
coverage will be limited. Storms that do develop in this area
will be fairly strong, capable of producing lightning, outflow
gusts up to 50 mph, and heavy rain. Mixing heights around 11-13
kft AGL show unstable conditions even outside of storms. Sunday,
winds generally decrease down to 10 to 20 mph, temperatures
cool some, but RHs remain dry.
