.DISCUSSION...This afternoon and evening expected to have the
most active thunderstorms of any day this week as a strong
upper trough comes in from the south. Scattered thunderstorms
will begin around noon and reach maximum coverage and intensity
early this evening. Thunderstorms will be most numerous in
eastern Oregon, but SPC predicts greatest intensity in Idaho
where damaging wind gusts are possible. WPC predicts a marginal
risk of excessive rainfall north of 44N (i.e., the northern
half of the district). A second weaker upper trough from the
Pacific will follow on Friday with a 15-30 percent chance of
late day thunderstorms mainly in Oregon, and on Saturday mainly
in Idaho. Cooler today and cooler again Friday, warming
slightly Saturday and Sunday, then cooling again Monday when
a stronger upper trough comes in from the Pacific.
