Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Boise ID
854 PM MST Thu Nov 13 2025

.DISCUSSION...Light rain continues across much of the area this
evening ahead of a slow moving upper level trough and cold
front. Overall, rain amounts have been light so far, with the
highest amounts seen in southeast Oregon and Central Idaho
Mountains between 0.05 and 0.10 inch. Areas southeast of a Rome
Boise Stanley line will see little if any precipitation this
evening. However, chances will increase Friday morning as the
trough moves across southwest Idaho. Snow levels remain quite
high for this system, between 8000 to 10,000 feet tonight,
lowering to 7000 to 9000 feet Friday afternoon. Fog is possible
across southeast Oregon towards sunrise as skies clear behind
the exiting trough. Showers will linger into early Friday
afternoon across the Central Idaho Mountains. The upper level
low center off the coast of California this evening will push
inland across central California into Nevada on Saturday,
spreading clouds and showers from south to north Saturday night.
Forecasts have been updated to match current radar and
precipitation trends this evening.

.PREV DISCUSSION...
SHORT TERM...Tonight through Saturday night...
Pacific cold front will move across our CWA overnight and Friday
morning with light to moderate rain in northern mountains and
light rain elsewhere. Temps will stay mild with lows in the
upper 30s through 40s, with snow level above 8000 feet MSL. Not
much thermal contrast across the front, so Friday will be only a
few degrees cooler than today. Friday night will be colder than
tonight as skies clear, with lows 25 to 32 in the mountains and
mid 30s to lower 40s in the valleys. Patchy fog will form in the
valleys early Saturday morning. Pacific upper low will move
southward off the California coast Friday, then inland across
southern California Friday night and Saturday, then
northeastward Into Nevada Saturday night, leading to light rain
in our southern CWA zones by sunrise Sunday.

LONG TERM...Sunday through Thursday...
Unsettled weather returns after Saturdays lull in activity. A
trough digging down from the Gulf of Alaska will steer the SoCal
closed low over our area come Sunday, bringing widespread
showers across our area. Snow levels will remain at around 6-7
kft MSL through Sunday. Precipitation will continue through
Monday as the Gulf of Alaska trough makes its way inland. This
trough will bring a cold front through sometime Monday/Tuesday
and lower snow levels to 3.5-4.5 kft MSL. As this system departs
Wednesday, precipitation chances across the area will begin to
taper off ahead of the next system set to come in mid-late next
week. In general, expect cool and unsettled conditions through
the long term.
