This blocking pattern will keep weather mostly mundane, aside from a steep warming trend into Tuesday. Temperatures Monday and Tuesday will be 5-15 degrees above normal, with lower elevations forecast to see high temps above 100 degrees on Tuesday. An approaching wave in the long term will increase winds slightly Tuesday afternoon, but not by much. Skies remain mostly clear. .LONG TERM...Wednesday through Sunday...A large ridge of high pressure building into the area off the Four Corners region will slowly steer out, as a longwave trough over Western Canada begins entrenching into the region. Isolated thunderstorms remain possible mainly over the upper Great Basin and lower Magic Valley through Wednesday afternoon. Only a slight cooling trend into the upper 90s is expected on Wednesday for lower elevations, before a greater cooling trend into the lower 90s/upper 80s returns Thursday and Friday. Continuous longwave troughing off the Pacific Northwest is expected to dig into the area Friday through Sunday, continuing a cooling trend and bringing the possibility of thunderstorms over higher elevations. && .AVIATION...VFR with clear skies.
