However, levels are expected to remain below established flood stages, and any overflow along the river should be of minor nature. The Tallapoosa River at The Tallapoosa Water Plant. * At 9:15 AM CST Wednesday the stage was 6.9 feet. * Action stage is 15.0 feet. * Flood stage is 25.0 feet. * Forecast...The river will will rise to 18.0 feet by Friday evening. It will then fall and remain below flood stage. * Impact...At 15.0 feet...Low areas near the junction with the Coosa River begin to overflow. Extensive flooding of low lying areas begins between US 231 and the river at stages of 15 to 25 feet. The Tallapoosa River at Milstead. * At 9:30 AM CST Wednesday the stage was 5.5 feet. * Action stage is 15.0 feet. * Flood stage is 40.0 feet. * Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 15.7 feet Friday morning. * Impact...At 15.0 feet...Overflow of pasture lands occurs. Cattle may need to be moved if higher stages are forecast. Another statement will be issued by Thursday morning, or sooner if conditions warrant. It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next 48 hours.
