...River Statement For The Cahaba River...

.Recent heavy rainfall has produced rises on the Cahaba River.
However, levels are expected to remain below established flood
stages, and any overflow along the river should be of minor nature.


The Cahaba River at Marion Junction.
* At 7:00 PM CDT Monday the stage was 15.2 feet.
* Action stage is 15.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 36.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will fall to 9.8 feet Wednesday morning. It
  will then rise to 10.6 feet Thursday morning. It will fall to 10.5
  feet Thursday evening. It will then rise to 10.8 feet early Friday
  afternoon. It will fall again and remain below flood stage.
* Impact...At 15.0 feet...Flooding around Oakmulgee Creek begins and
  cattle need to be moved to higher ground. Overflow of pasture lands
  increases at stages above 20 feet.


Another statement will be issued by Tuesday evening, or sooner if
conditions warrant.

statements concerning this event.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next
48 hours.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
