The Frost and Freeze Program at NWS Birmingham is in effect for each county until the majority of the county has had a significant freeze, roughly 30 degrees or less, or until November 25. Thus, starting tonight, the program has ended for all of Central Alabama and any additional Frost Advisories, Freeze Watches, or Freeze Warnings will not be issued. The Frost and Freeze Program will begin back on March 15. The Frost and Freeze Program at NWS Birmingham dates have been coordinated with our partners as well as based on historical trends and temperatures. Remember, a Freeze Warning is issued any time the temperatures are expected to drop to freezing or below during the growing season, and a Frost Advisory is issued whenever frost is possible during the growing season. $$
