.DISCUSSION...

Hot conditions continue today, with highs around 95 to 100 and
minimum humidity around 20 to 30 percent for much of western and
central North Dakota. Southerly winds will increase to around 15
mph this afternoon. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are
expected to develop in western North Dakota late this afternoon
and evening and spread eastward through the night. More widespread
showers and thunderstorms are then likely across the southern
half of the state on Thursday, which will also be a much cooler
and more humid day. A few storms could be severe through Thursday,
with strong, erratic wind gusts.

Hot and dry conditions will return through the weekend. Winds
should remain lighter on Friday, but southerly winds could
increase to 15 to 20 mph on Saturday, then 20 to 30 mph on Sunday.
Western North Dakota could also see a wind shift on Sunday, but
with lighter winds after the shift in direction to the northwest.
Minimum humidity is forecast as low as 15 percent on Saturday and
near 10 percent on Sunday for western parts of the state that are
south of the Missouri River.
