.DISCUSSION...
Notably cooler temperatures are expected this weekend with high
temperatures generally in the upper 50s into the 60s, and minimum
afternoon humidity values in the 30s and 40s. Northwest winds
today will be a bit breezy at around 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 30
mph over north central North Dakota into the James River Valley,
lesser to the west.
Sunday will start out with light winds, but southerly winds will
increase through the day, reaching 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40
mph over far southwest North Dakota in the afternoon. The
remainder of the southwest into parts of northwest North Dakota
will see winds around 15 to 25 mph.
Rain showers will move through the area Sunday night into early
Monday before departing. There is a possibility that southwest
North Dakota will see the rain depart early enough to dry out
fuels with humidity values dipping into the 30s, with some upper
20s possible over far southwest North Dakota. A frontal boundary
will shift through on Monday, with winds turning westerly in the
morning over western North Dakota, and in the afternoon central.
Winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph will be possible over
western North Dakota, 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph central.
Therefore, near critical fire weather conditions will be possible
over parts of southwest North Dakota. Notably light winds are then
expected for Tuesday.
