...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 1045 AM CDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of south central North Dakota, including the
  following counties, McLean and Mercer.

* WHEN...Until 1045 AM CDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Low-water crossings may be inundated with water and may
  not be passable. It will take several hours for all the water from
  these storms to work through local drainage systems.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 444 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain
    have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in
    the warned area.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Garrison, Hazen, Underwood, Turtle Lake, Max, Riverdale, Pick
    City, Coleharbor, Butte, Hazen Bay Recreation Area, Beulah
    Bay Recreation Area, Fort Stevenson State Park, Lake
    Sakakawea State Park, Strawberry Lake and Fort Berthold.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers,
or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and
hikers should avoid streams or creeks.
