Lake effect snow showers are expected to ramp up in intensity tonight. The heaviest bands of snow are expected to linger just offshore, but accumulations are still anticipated across portions of Leelanau, Benzie, and Manistee counties. Areas along the immediate shorelines are expected to see 2 to 3 inches of accumulation from tonight through Thursday morning, with locally higher amounts possible. Areas farther inland will likely see less snowfall, ranging anywhere from an additional dusting to locally over an inch of snowfall. Reduced visibility and snow covered roads are possbile through the night tonight and into Thursday morning. Be sure to be cognizant of changing conditions, and give plenty of distance between you and the car in front of you if out traveling tonight. $$ Dippman
