.DISCUSSION... Another mild day on tap as a system progresses
through the Great Lakes region. Anticipating high temperatures to
flirt with the 70 degree mark by late morning into the afternoon.
As such, with an increasingly moist airmass (Min RHs likely
struggle to get much lower than 60), showers and storms are
expected to develop late this morning into the afternoon hours,
which will lead to suboptimal burning conditions if a storm can
traverse the burn area. In addition, the presence of showers and
thunderstorms will lead to potential for erratic wind patterns at
times. Otherwise, winds set to shift more south to southwest
through the day after starting out southeast early this morning.
Mixing heights will struggle to get over 1,000ft, with ventilation
suffering as a result. In the evening, rain and thunderstorms
will taper, leaving behind a period of mist and fog that will keep
moisture high into Saturday morning. Drier conditions eventually
build for Saturday, with peeks of sun prevailing as we head into
the afternoon... albeit with cooler temperatures near 60. A
persistent north wind is expected Saturday, sustained around
10mph, gusting as high as 15 to 20mph. Mixing and ventilation is
anticipated to be markedly better Saturday than today.
