Fire Weather Planning Forecast for northern Lower Michigan
National Weather Service Gaylord MI
214 AM EDT Tue Jul 7 2026
...Near Critical Level Relative Humidity For Some Areas Today...
.DISCUSSION...Another warm and rain-free day expected across the
Northwoods...with afternoon high temperatures topping out in the mid
to upper 80s. Combination of that aggressive warming and limited low
level moisture will allow afternoon relative humidity values today
to drop well below 40 percent across interior areas...with some
parts of northeast lower Michigan likely making a run to near
critical level values. Moisture begins to recover on Wednesday,
along with increasing shower and thunderstorm chances. Best chance
for widespread rains arrive Wednesday night into Thursday morning as
a weak cold front works its way south across the area. Some locally
heavier rain totals are possible during this period. Rain-free
weather returns to end the week on into the weekend along with
afternoon relative humidity values perhaps again dropping below 40
percent for some areas. Not seeing any real significant wind
concerns through the rest of the week.
