Fire Weather Planning Forecast for northern Lower Michigan
National Weather Service Gaylord MI
311 AM EDT Wed Oct 8 2025

...Seasonable and Dry Today; Next Rain Chance is Friday-Saturday...

.DISCUSSION...Post-frontal airmass will fully be in place today,
as temperatures largely struggle to reach into the mid 50s to
lower 60s. This airmass is quite dry... and with dewpoints mixing
out into the 20s this afternoon, anticipating RHs to fall locally
into the upper 20s, though most spots likely settle into the low-
to-mid 30s. Winds will be out of the north, and largely on the
lighter side, though there may be a few rogue gusts approaching
20mph this afternoon. All in all, the very dry nature of the
airmass in itself may promote fire growth in spots that failed to
bag appreciable rain on Monday... but some limitation will be
cast by the relatively lighter nature of the winds and the cool
temperatures. Looking ahead, we embark on another dry stretch
through much of the rest of the week with rain chances
materializing on Friday into Saturday and again early next week.
Temperatures will warm back to above normal, with highs well into
the 60s and even the low-to-mid 70s possible by the end of the
weekend into next week.
