.DISCUSSION...
Critical Fire Weather Conditions today in the east.
While RH values will be in the mid teens and winds will be right
around 15 to 20 mph in the east, we expect isolated to scattered
storms in the central and eastern Panhandles today. The main concern
will be small thunderstorm cores that would lead to dry lightning
outside of the main precipitation shaft. These storms could have intense
downbursts, creating wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour. Given the fuels are pretty much at or above the
climatalogical maximum for this time of year as well as the
underlying conditions, we have issued a Red Flag Warning for
portions of the eastern Panhandles.
